tuesday, december 30: ebony and ivory

Nothing says “Merry Christmas” like getting that awful flu that has been going around. I got it the day after Christmas and I’m just starting to feel back to normal. Between being sick and the cold weather, I’ve been really bundling up. Today I opted for a black and white ensemble, with just a touch of teal. I love how this outfit reads winter, but is still wearable in Southern California. A lightweight sweater, thin scarf, jeans, and booties are all you really need here, but since the forecast calls for rain, I threw on my raincoat. I love mixing prints. Technically this sweater isn’t really a print, but the texture looks great next to a clean stripe. (Number one rule to mixing prints: keep one color the same. both the sweater and scarf have black, easy peasy.) What’s the weather like where you are? What are you wearing to stay warm this winter? I’d love to hear, let me know if the comment section! raincoat: Calvin Klein | sweater: Maison Scotch from Taim Boutique …

tuesday, december 23: gingered cranberry relish

I have never been a fan of cranberry sauce. You know, that gross jelly stuff that comes in a can. The stuff that is still in the shape of the can after you remove it, complete with little ridges. Gross. But what always struck me as odd, is that I LOVE cranberries. A few years ago a found a cranberry relish recipe and after makingĀ a few tweaks of my own, I have a tried and true recipe that my friends and family (myself included) devour over the holidays. Ingredients: 12 oz. bag of cranberries 12 oz. (2 packages) fresh raspberries 1/2 cup sugar 2 oz jar of crystallized ginger juice from 1/2 orange zest from 1/2 orange Method: In a food processor, pulse cranberries until coarsely chopped. In a medium sized bowl, mix cranberries, sugar, ginger, orange juice, and orange zest. Gently fold in raspberries. Cover and let refrigerate for at least 2 hours. You can prepare up to four days in advance.

tuesday, december 16: rainy day

Winter finally arrived in Southern California! And by “winter” I mean it’s in the high 50s with some rain. Semantics aside, I LOVE this weather, it gives me the opportunity to sport my big blanket scarf, trench coat, and wellies. This plaid blanket scarf is everything. I probably wear it too often right now, but the best thing about it is that you can wear solid, staple pieces and make them look put together. White trench coat + denim shirt + black jeggings = fair ensemble. White trench coat + denim shirt + black jeggings + PLAID SCARF = epitome of style. How British of me. (if only you could see my Hunter wellies) So what do you think about this weather? Are you a fan of winter? What are you wearing to stay warm and cute? scarf: Maison Scotch from Taim Boutique | trench coat: Theory | denim shirt: J.Crew | jeggings: Denimocracy from Taim Boutique | invisible wellies: Hunter

thursday, december 11: a day in the life

I arrived at the shop this morning, Starbucks red cup in hand, and threw my planner, breakfast, and keys down on the counter. Shortly after, I spent about 10 minutes trying to get the perfect Instagram shot of my “desk.” Let’s get real for a second, to get this casually styled shot I grab a small display table, clear the clothes off it, then very carefully place the one or two items you would actually find on my desk with multiple other items which scream “it’s the Holidays and I’m super creative.” What we do for the ‘gram, right? After all was said and done, I actually thought it would be more fun to show what a day in my life really looks like. While these pictures may still be pretty, they are more accurate at depicting what a typically day looks like for me. So here you go, a day in the life of a shop girl. It’s a bit unfair to say that I don’t have a desk, but my shop is in …

thursday, december 4: ocstylereport + taim boutique

A couple of weeks ago, my store Taim Boutique collaborated with the lovely ladies of OCStyleReport for their very first What They Wear post. It was an absolute blast! Fall in Southern California isn’t especially cold (most people would find our 72 degree weather quite warm actually), so we dress in really light layers. Tees, hats, thin scarves, and chino pants are a great way to go. And how cute are these booties? Yeah, I know! And they are totally comfortable, which is huge for me given I’m on my feet 8-10 hours a day. I would like to thank Rachael and the OCStyleReport ladies for having me, you guys are the best!
